Media 338 is named after its address which is 338, Cheonbyeonjwa-ro, Nam-gu, Gwangju, and it is a convergence media arts exhibition hall. The ground floor is for media art resident artists
to exhibit their artworks and it is open to any artists who need to showcase artworks. A doublestory exhibition hall was used as a temporary office for GCF’s projects till 2016. October 2016,
GCF remodeled inside of the building and blocked the lights to the terrace for using it as an exhibition hall.
Since its launching on the 1st of March, 2017, Gwangju Media Art Platform has held ten media arts related exhibitions for the last ten months. Artists use it as a gallery to showcase their artworks and students use it as a special space for experiencing media arts. There is a small room on the second floor and it showcases Lee Yi-nam’<Hibridizing Earth>, a permanent exhibition.
The room is very popular among children as they can see media artworks and draw something on 3D space like screen in virtual reality. <Hibridizing Earth> is a co-project of Lee Yi-nam and
Google Korea for the Busan Biennale 2016. Visitors wear headsets and experience virtual reality while drawing on 3D space.
